info
history:
king of Ranvik. originally a fae changeling. not fae royalty.
his fae parents swapped him with the prince of Ranvik when the babe was two months old. the fae just thought that the human prince was cute. no one knows what became of the human prince.
Goldwyn wasn't cute. he was such a horrific babe that his new parents started suspecting foul play. they abused him, believing the old superstitions that changelings could be forced to admit their true nature by beatings. not true, as it turned out.
Godwyn grew resentful of humans. he outlived his sickly mother and murdered his father by kicking him down the stairs. he had no siblings, though there were rumors of a younger brother, tossed out of a window.
the humans didn't want him and when he visited the hidden people (the fae realm) the other fae thought his manners too coarse and his complexion too dark. his real parents had forgotten about him and he never made friends with his siblings.
at some point he stopped pretending to be human altogether and let the Ranvik castle deteriorate without a proper staff. the people of his kingdom live in constant fear of his return because he disappears or fucks off to the fae realm every 50 years or so.
he occupies his time with revenge. his wrath is currently aimed at the descendants of a human girl (Cristiane Dahl) he once fell in love with. think of Wuthering Heights, but stretch the plot by 100 years.
general information

first impressions: somewhat pleasant, strange, carries himself like he was important somewhere, doesn't seem to care of others' opinions of him.
powers
fae magic/wish fulfillment: need a hand with something? voice a wish or accidentally make a deal with him, the fae are bound to "help". after all, what could go wrong? (there's always a hidden catch in the fae words.)
superhuman strength: much stronger than he looks, wields a sword and a dagger in battle.
travel between the human and fae realms: nerfed in this setting.
communication with nature: good at tracking, predicting the weather, sensing the general "mood" of natural organisms. the fae believe that everything has a soul.

the fae
fairies of folklore are vicious, vindictive and cruel, embodying forces of nature. they are responsible for all manner of mischief and ills, ranging from petty vandalism and theft to outright murder and kidnap. they are not necessarily evil. they just have big egos. changelings are creatures spoken of in many folklore, fantasy and fairy tales from across the world - they are regarded as creatures that are placed into mortal homes by fairies or demons, who proceed to kidnap the original child of the home. changelings are often said to exhibit odd behavior or have traits that are not normally found in human young: some tales also spoke of changelings that had voracious appetites, unnatural knowledge and imp-like traits that made them more mischievious and/or disturbing to their mortal "parents".
the rules:
- the fae are eager to make deals. however, their help cannot be trusted.
- the fae cannot lie, but they will not tell you the truth.
- if you learn their true name, they will be forced to serve faithfully.
other:
- the fae lust for "handsome youths, guileless virgins, broody young wives, nursing mothers and newborn babies, spiriting them away at will."
- the presence of fae or their magic may be accompanied by the faint sound of bells.
- the will-o'-the-wisp in dark woods is the fae's doing, meant to lead travelers astray
